The Story

A glimpse of the future, for the price of your sleep.

Oleg is a cast aside physicist. Oleg is a man who was initially promised history and yet he delivered nothing. So when a foreigner named James Palmer arrives with a strange artefact and an even stranger offer, Oleg cannot refuse. The device lets him and his friend Aljo take glimpses of the future inside their dreams.

It is a miracle. Lottery numbers, weather, world news. Then the dreams begin to crumble. They become uncanny, impatient, and the future they return with is not the one they went looking for.

For what they go to sleep for, something wakes up.

The World

A quiet town, and the deep beneath it.

The story unfolds in a rural, half-forgotten corner of the world. The kind of place where people live slow meaningless lives. Science is not new here, instead superstition is what arrives here as a stranger: an artefact from elsewhere, a promise dressed in the language of success.

Beneath the still surface runs the real setting of the book. the dream-side, the abyss, the uncanny water that answers when you ask it to show you tomorrow. It keeps its own rules. And it flips them when it suits it.
